February Favorite Things

In the past few days the warmer temps & sun (yes, by warmer temps I really just mean above zero) has got me having a little bit more pep in my step as I’ve been feeling hopeful for the spring days to come. The cold snap that started the month gave me plenty of time though to catch up on my “to be read” list and find some new favorite takeout meals so without further to do…

FAVORITE RESTAURANT FOR TAKEOUT/DELIVERY – TAVERN ON THE HILL

As so many people are, Ben and I have been ordering more takeout than usual and honestly, are loving it. Tavern on the Hill has become our go-to lately and for good reason.

Our favorite order right now is their pizza options, you can’t go wrong with any, but our faves right now are the Simple Margherita, Thai Chicken & the Bluestone. My tip: top it off with a basket of sweet potato fries 😍

FAVORITE READFINLAY DONOVAN IS KILLING IT

This book just launched this month, and is a fast-paced read that is just so dang fun. The plot is ridiculous, a suspense novelist accidentally finds herself covering up a murder in real life (I know…) but I absolutely loved every minute of it. If you love thrillers — this is NOT that. This is a comedy with a dash of romance & a sprinkle of suspense and in my opinion – a must read.

& An Honorable mention for this month’s favorite read: The Court of Thorns & Roses Series

I couldn’t leave just one read to be my favorite. I devoured all three books of this series this month and it was such a fun escape! These books have been out a couple of years, and the newest one in the series just came out this month! I haven’t read it yet but I have a hold at the library. I’m discovering that I like Fantasy WAY more than I thought I did, so these were fun, different reads than I’m used to. Fun fact, my favorite of the trilogy was the 2nd (by far) which I think is unique in a series!

FAVORITE FUN PURCHASETHESE ARTISAN HANDBAGS

It hit 40 degrees this week and Spring was on the brain so when I came across Honest Cotton & these bags on Instagram, I splurged on both 😂. I’ve been wanting bags like this for the beach (wishful thinking, I know) and love the warmth & texture they bring to any outfit. Honest Cotton sources these from makers in Thailand, which is due to them wanting to support makers who depend heavily on tourism in their businesses and have been deeply affected by Covid – how cool!

FAVORITE FOLLOW@SHARONSAYSSO

If you’re not following Sharon McMahon on instagram yet, what are you even doing? 😘 I’ve been following along with Sharon for awhile since she’s a fellow local photographer in Duluth! But within the last several months, her following has EXPLODED, because she’s been sharing facts to educate people about our government. Following along with her has been giving me SO much hope and I love how she’s bridging the gap between parties, showing how we’re more alike than different while also cutting through the noise and misinformation to bring forward facts.

FAVORITE SHOW: THE MINDY PROJECT

I realize I’m super late to the game here, but Ben and I have been watching The Mindy Project on Hulu and absolutely loving it. For those of you like me that hadn’t yet checked it out, it follows Mindy (yes, Mindy Kaling playing a Mindy) and her life at a small medical practice in New York City. It’s the perfect mix of romance, humor and just the best cast making it the perfect end of a long day show.
