She’s been a dear friend since middle school and now I get to introduce her with a new title, meet Kat – my newest (and first!) addition to my team!
Over the summer we got to talking and realized it was a perfect time to team up to help. I had a busy summer of sessions, travel and editing and she had time to take on freelance work, something she’d been wanting to do for awhile. With her coming on, she’s been helping out with my social & blog so I could have time doing what I love most, capturing & sharing memories.
It’s been so fun to get to dream alongside her as I look ahead to where I’m excited to take my business and how I can get there with her help.
Not only is she on my team, she’s also available for freelance work to help you do the same marketing help she’s doing for me. Whether you need help with day to day captions for your social posts or need someone with a vision to build your online presence – she’s your gal!
Shoot her a note directly to hear more about specific questions & needs you have either now or anticipate having them in the future! Email: hedstrom.kat@gmail.com And in the meantime, follow along on Instagram: @kathedstrom
How’d you get into Marketing & PR?
I always knew I wanted to do marketing but going into my last year of college still didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do. I had a professor ask what I’ve always dreamed of doing since growing up to see if that helped. Looking back, I always had an interest in media – in 4th grade I won an essay contest (can you call it an essay when you’re 10?) about becoming a travel journalist, in 6th grade I researched how you became a TV reporter and in high school I did a job shadow at the local newspaper. PR is this perfect balance of combining my love of media with my interest in all things marketing!
What do you love most about working in PR?
The different industries I get to touch working at an agency is by far the biggest perk. I’ve gotten to launch robotic toys that are licensed with some of the top movie franchisees, run massive events with brands like Red Bull and strategize content for a U.S. launch of a Japanese-based tech brand. I use to intro myself to clients as someone that can do PR for “beanies, bundt cakes, ‘bots and beyond” and as cringey as it is typing that out now (ha!) it’s so cool to think that’s true based on all the amazing brands I’ve worked with.
What’s your favorite memory growing up with Angela?
It’s a long story but it involves me driving a boat for the first time by mistake, getting stuck in the middle of the lake and somehow keeping their family boat in tact. It’s definitely a “you had to be there” moment and really defines being a middle schooler but telling it always get us both doubling over.
Favorite hobby you recently picked up?
Out of all the craziness of 2020, the fact that I now do yoga daily is something I never thought I would say. But with a much, much shorter commute these days I’ve head to completely re-do my morning and after-work routines. I could not get on board with any other work from home workout but the the Peloton yoga classes have been the one thing that’s stuck so I’m sticking with it!
What will be your next trip post-COVID?
This is the longest I’ve gone without being on a plane in a long time and I have about three trips planned on Pinterest for once it’s safe again so you could say I’m just a little antsy. Getting to Cape Town has been at the top of the “where to next” list for both my sister and I for a long time now so I’m hoping that’s our next big trip!
